November 2009
Dear Reader Friends:
As its November, with Thanksgiving just weeks away, my thoughts turn toward gratitude. I'm grateful for so many things in my life, and I count you and your generous support right up there.
Just in time for holiday shopping, A Creed Country Christmas hit the shelves Oct. 27. I take readers back to 1910 and Stillwater Springs for a visit with the man behind the legends: Lincoln Creed. This widower cowboy aims to lasso expelled schoolmarm Juliana Mitchell for his lonely daughter. Abandoned by her family for her refusing to marry, Juliana feels responsible for her young charges from the Indian school, which the government has just closed. She longs to help Lincoln, yet the orphaned children need her too. Will Christmas miracles transpire for all?
A new Stone Creek tale comes out this month, as well, At Home in Stone Creek. Everyone in Ashley O'Ballivan's life is marrying and starting familiesexcept her. But what date can compare to Jack McCall, the man who broke her heart years ago? And now he's mysteriously back. But he isn't who she thinks he is. After a dangerous mission working for the DEA, security expert Jack rents a room in Ashley's bed-and-breakfast. For her sake, he must keep his distance. But his feelings for her are so powerful that only his heart remains off-limits. To protect herfrom his enemies and himselfhe has to leave . . . vowing to fight his way home to her and Stone Creek forever.
After reading so many wonderfully inspiring stories from women across the U.S. and Canada, I've narrowed down the 2009 Linda Lael Scholarship applicants to 10 finalists, who have been notified. Each essay was full of such hope, strength and courage. It was agonizingly difficult to select just 10. I'm so grateful that these amazing women shared their stories with me. I'll post the winners by December 15. Thank you, again, to all who entered.
Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends,
Linda
