I spent a quiet weekend, here on the Triple L, except for a brief stint over at Northern Quest casino. 🙂 Have I mentioned that I enjoy playing slot machines? 🙂 For once, I had the good sense to quit while I was ahead, and when I came home, I was greeted by two very happy dogs. (Mowgli and Tule spent most of the rainy weekend playing outside, looking like drowned rats when they came inside, which did nothing to diminish their cuteness. 🙂 ) I continue to consume audiobooks at an alarming rate, if any form of reading/listening can be called ‘alarming’. I ran out of excellent YA fantasy novels, and haven’t loved anything enough, so far, to mention it here. Since I know how hard it is to write a book, and how writers put their heart’s blood into a project, I never criticize the ones I don’t enjoy. (Besides, my opinion is only one of many. If a book gets published, to my way of thinking, then somebody liked it very much.)
Today, I’m plotting a new contemporary novel, tentatively titled THE BRIDE WAGER. The book has three hot cowboys and three smart, proactive women who drive them crazy, and it will be a little longer than my normal offering. Also, more complex. It’s like my trilogies, but all in one book, so no more waiting for books 2 and 3 to find out what happened to the other characters you’ve come to (I hope) know and love. 🙂 I’ll keep you updated on this project and on NORTH OF EDEN, which is the main work-in-progress.
In about a month, I’ll be heading for Gettysburg and my week of study with the Civil War Institute, at Gettysburg College. I’m really looking forward to learning more, revisiting the battlefield, and catching up with friends, Sandy Pennesse and Gary and Marsha Roche. (Gary is a licensed tour guide, and Marsha is a pure delight.) I’ve visited Gettysburg numerous times, and I never get tired of it, although after this book is finished, I’ll be switching to Savannah, Georgia, as my second historical novel, SOUTH OF GLORY, is set near there. I know, I know. Poor Linda. 🙂
