The weatherman promised sunshine. So far, it comes and goes. I’m acting on faith, here. 🙂
So, anyway, this morning I go downstairs to clean up my crafting space–I was in a frenzy yesterday afternoon and evening, after I’d finished my writing for the day, painting and rubberstamping polymer clay like a crazy (see yesterday’s blog) woman–and I DO clean up, but then I start getting ideas and wind up making MORE tiles. Before I’d even finished my first cup of coffee! In terms of activities, there’s only one thing I love more than playing with art supplies, and that’s telling my stories.
Today, there will be more writing and almost certainly more making of tiles. (Check out www.mikaarts.com) There, you’ll see what I only dream of being able to do–I am SUCH a fan of Laurie’s work, and I can’t wait to study with her again. I kind of got away from the artist trading cards for a while there, but I’ll be getting back to that. I was on overload, a thing that happens if I’m not careful to curb my enthusiasm!
Heading off to Reno this weekend for the rodeo–I’m a guest of Caesar’s Entertainment (YES) and will be signing books and shaking hands and grinning a whole lot at Harrah’s, though I’m not sure exactly when. If you’re in the Reno area, I’d sure love to swap howdies with you. I’m hoping to get to the actual rodeo, but not sure that will happen. I might sneak off to a rubber stamp store, too, if I can find one. 🙂 Since I only have a few thousand stamps, I try to avoid this, with little or no success.
I did an interview yesterday afternoon (busy, busy), with John Busbee, the host of a radio program called Culture Buzz, among his many other creative enterprises–he’s also a film-maker. John’s my favorite Iowa farm-boy, and I just love chatting with him. He’s going to fix me up with some CDs of my interviews, and I’ll have them put up on the site so you can hear what a good time we have, talking books. He’s just the best–such a pro that he makes the whole process easy. Not that I ever have much trouble talking. 🙂 Put me in front of a microphone and I turn into Oprah.
Bernice had a badly needed bath and a haircut yesterday, too–Mary Ann, the Trail Boss, handled that. Now she looks like a very earnest little black sheep (Bernice, not Mary Ann) and smells considerably better, too. (Bernice, not Mary Ann 🙂 ) She’s back from her morning jaunt to the barn and sleeping off the raging excitement of the experience as I write this. The Yorkie only has two speeds, she either goes at full tilt or topples over on her side like she’s been pole-axed. 🙂 She’s got to keep up her strength so she can go BACK to the barn this afternoon.
