Sorry I’m late!

What a weekend I had!
On Friday night, daughter Wendy and I, along with Cousin Mary Ann and her daughter, Jenni, spent the night at Northern Quest and took in the Sylvia Browne show.  That lady cracks me up–if she wasn’t a psychic, she could be a stand-up comedian!  (Except that, having broken her hip recently, she can’t stand up.)  The slot machines were on fire, for once, and the food was good, too.  I didn’t get to sleep until after two a.m., I was so wired.
The four of us enjoyed a buffet breakfast on Saturday morning, then headed for home.  I planned on taking a nap, but it didn’t work–I was too excited about the evening to come.  🙂  Wendy and I drove downtown and watched “Jersey Boys” at the INB Center, and it just blew us away.  The music–it’s the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons–was merely fabulous.  It was all I could do not to sing along, because I knew the words to every single song.  The performers were unbelievably good, and the staging was excellent, too.  Afterward, we bought sweatshirts and programs and listened to the score of another favorite musical, Les Miz, all the way home.  That time, we DID sing along, at the top of our lungs.  (Wendy and I have lost count of how many times we’ve been to Les Miz–I think we’re addicted.)
Well, now, that’s a lot of excitement for an old cowgirl like me, especially in the space of two days, and I was both worn out and flying high, but it didn’t end there.  My beloved cousins, Jimmy Lael, his daughter Alisa and her daughter, Laci, came to visit on Sunday.  We laughed, swapped yarns, remembered those now missing from our circle, and looked at pictures.  Jim brought a family shot showing my very young grandfather, Daniel Jacob Lael, looking handsome and sporting a bowler hat, worn at a jaunty angle.  🙂  (I can see where my Elvis-handsome uncle, Jack, got his good looks.)  The Laels stayed the night, and got up early the next morning, as they had to be at the airport by five a.m. to start the trip home to Virginia.
It was now officially Monday, and I was bushed, but I saw my opportunity to read through what I’ve written of “Big Sky Summer” so far, and I took it, doing some editing along the way.  After that, I was way too tired to write, so I took that long nap I’d been putting off all weekend.
Today, it was back to Parable County, where a very good time was had by all.  🙂  I swear, this book is all but writing itself.
I’ll have another contest question ready by tomorrow, though the blog will probably be posted in the afternoon, like this one, as those characters will hardly let me feed the pets and swallow a little coffee before getting on with their story!
Be well, be happy, and be kind.  And I’ll see you tomorrow.
