Now, about my weekend. Daughter Wendy and I attended a Saturday afternoon matinee of the musical, “Guys and Dolls”, in downtown Spokane. We know all the songs–Wendy appeared in her high school theatre production way back when–and we enjoyed the show immensely, especially because it brought back so many great memories for both of us.
After the play, we visited Macy’s, one of our favorite stores, and I stopped by Chico’s, where I bought a couple of items for the summer. I’ll be going to Gettysburg for a week next month, doing research for my Civil War novel, and then in July Wendy and I will take a trip to Asheville, N.C. to attend a Wishing Machine workshop, taking a ghost tour with Joshua P. Warren, and then taking a few days to explore the area. We’ll be meeting my good friend, Brad Mulder, who builds the wishing machines, and touring the Biltmore Estate. I’ve always wanted to do that!
But back to the weekend. After we shopped, we headed to our favorite Spokane restaurant, Anthony’s, for a lovely dinner. I had the fried oysters–YUM. 🙂 We enjoyed the dazzling view of Spokane Falls as well as the delicious food. Let me tell you, by the time I got home that evening, I was, as my mother says, too pooped to pop. On Sunday, I puttered, listened to audiobooks, and fed birds in the back yard. The tulips are really gorgeous, and my beloved peonies are coming right along. Bernice and I went to get the mail both Saturday and Sunday (we’re always a day behind on the pickup) and took a couple of walks. I’ve been riding my exercise bike again, since, 1) it’s still cold, even though the sun shines and, 2) Bernice can’t make the trek around the pasture, and she is positively heartbroken if I go without her. 🙂 So I ride the bike and take my walks when I can sneak past her.
