Elvis and the Bunny Slippers

Tuesday, Sep 08

I needed some cheering up.  That’s my excuse for buying 1) an Elvis Presley piggy bank, complete with golden sunglasses and 2) a pair of bunny slippers.  🙂  (I did need new slippers.)  I laugh every time I look at the bank, let alone drop change through the slot, and the slippers are not only funny, they’re comfortable.  My daughter did warn me, however, that Margie and Lil, my grand-dogs, might mistake them for toys and try to run off with my feet.  🙂  Life is full of risk.
The winners who would have been announced yesterday, if it hadn’t been a holiday, are Marge Dominic and Eriko.  Congratulations, both of you.  The new contest is underway now–two winners will be chosen at random, notified by Miss Jen, my niece/assistant, and announced right here next Monday.  Or Tuesday.  🙂  All you need to do to enter is comment, and you’re in.
I’ve got some very exciting things coming up–I’ll be traveling to Dodge City, Kansas, the weekend of September 25-27, to attend the 60th Anniversary of my dad’s all-time favorite TV series, GUNSMOKE.  The festivities will be held at the Boot Hill Casino, where I’ll be signing copies of my soon-to-be-released hardcover, CHRISTMAS IN MUSTANG CREEK.  My good friends Buck and Goldie Taylor will be in attendance, along with Burt Reynolds and Bruce Boxleitner!  I’m so excited, as you can imagine.  There will be pictures aplenty, I promise, and I’ll tell you all about the experience when I get back.  In October, I’m returning to Gettysburg for a week of research, and in November, I’ll be going on a cruise sponsored by a major book retailer.  More details on that later.

That’s the news for now, my friends.  Thanks for being so patient with this beleaguered blogger.
