Kintsugi is a Wonderful Analogy

At last, I’m feeling better, although I’m not fully recovered.  This cold has been a challenge, that’s for sure.  It’s my belief, though, that even things we see as bad are very often part of a long-range plan that will result in something good.

God is the Potter, after all, and we are the clay.  He is shaping us, strengthening us throughout our lives, and sometimes it hurts.

The Japanese art form of kintsugi is a wonderful analogy in this respect—the artists take broken crockery, vases, etc. and fuse them back together with fresh clay, tinted gold or silver in most cases, and the result is breathtakingly beautiful.

In fact, I’m thinking of trying kintsugi when I’m well again, and have my energy back.

In the meantime, I’ll remember, especially when things are difficult, that God will put us back together, stronger in the broken places.
