It’s finally happened; I’ve downsized and moved to the San Diego, California area, leaving my too-large house in Spokane, Washington, where I had lived for nearly twenty years.
Moving is never easy for anyone. I had to say good-bye to loved ones, friends, and a marvelous church called Sozo.
I had a lot of help throughout the preparations, however, notably from Dustin and Jenni Gebhardt, who packed and sorted endlessly and finally leased an RV and brought me from Spokane to San Diego, along with my beloved dogs, Mowgli and Tule. I was pretty much in a daze, but I definitely enjoyed the trip.
Upon arrival, I spent two months living in my daughter’s office.
Two months.
Silly me, I thought I’d arrive and find a place to live immediately.
Not so. The rental market in this area is highly competitive, not to mention expensive, and I’d been a homeowner for almost 40 years, so I had no track record as a renter.
Fortunately, I eventually found the delightfully small house where I’m living now. There is a fenced back yard for the dogs, and I have a guest room and an office, besides my own quarters, of course. It’s ideal for me.
There’s still a lot of exploring to do, but I’m up for that. I’ll be posting some photos on the website soon, I promise.
San Diego is a beautiful place.
