As we approach Independence Day, and our 250th anniversary as a nation I am very grateful to be born and raised in America.
At the moment however, I’m concerned, as are many others I know, by the division we’re experiencing these days.
We need to remember that we are the UNITED States, not the DIVIDED ones.
That said, I’ll shift gears a bit. When I’m not writing, I like to do various craft and art projects, and that’s why I made this piece, a photo of which will be added to this post.
I bought the three small dolls at Dollar Tree (alas, I confess that I love Dollar Tree), and a relatively inexpensive shadowbox on Amazon, and I created my personal hope for the USA and, indeed, for the whole world.
Three young girls, three different races, standing side by side.
Above their head, the key phrase. UNITED WE STAND.
I will be donating the piece in hopes of encouraging some young person, or several, to understand that we’re all in this together.
