(Well, actually, this morning. 🙂 )
I was in my rocking chair on the deck, enjoying my quiet time, and I looked up at the sky and could not believe how blue it was! Or how green the towering pine trees that all but surround my house. It was the kind of intensity survivors of serious illness or deep catastrophe describe–colors so deep and true they almost don’t seem real. Quite honestly, I was astounded. Surely all this beauty is around us all the time, but how often do we see it???
I had a good writing day yesterday and hope to have another just like it today. The philosophy in a book I’m reading—“The War of Art”, by Steven Pressfield–may just transform my life. WOW. If you have a big dream, and you’ve been putting off taking those first steps, READ THIS BOOK. You might continue to procrastinate, but you won’t enjoy it, because you’ll know that you’re tricking yourself, tripping yourself up. Me? I want to be on my own side–after all, God is–and Pressfield’s book really helps. The odd thing is, I’ve owned this book for years and years–I bought it when Wendy and I attended one of Robert McKee’s “Story” seminars in Boston (McKee wrote the foreward, which is a force of nature in its own right)–and it’s been sitting around on one of my many bookshelves, getting dusty, ever since. The other day, I stumbled across it, started reading, and–well–powerful insights on every single page.
I’m positively reveling in our weather–oh, the sunshine! It saturates my very soul, like cool, clear water seeping into parched ground. (I can’t help the similes and metaphors, gang. They just come naturally, and some of them are a lot better than others.)
The renovation adventures continue. At 8:30 this morning, the UPS brought the faucet, ordered yesterday, for my new bathtub. Hallelujah, there was joy in Muddville! Until I discovered that the taps for hot and cold water are sold seperately, along with the installation kit. Yikes. I can’t even complain, because the order page plainly states, “Without handles”. Without handles??? Why not just sell the entire package and be done with it??? 🙂
For heaven’s sake.
Anyway, tomorrow morning, we should have everything we need. (Fingers crossed.)
I’m still thinking on questions for another contest. Any suggestions? 🙂
May God bless you and yours.
