That’s about the only thing I haven’t tried around here–stone soup. (But stay tuned.) 🙂 Gemstones ARE used by practitioners to energize food–although, obviously, one must not try to chew them. 🙂 SERIOUSLY: certain semi-precious stones, like malachite, are deadly poisonous. NEVER LEAVE MALACHITE WITHIN REACH OF A CHILD OR A PET, even if it’s been polished! Resist any wild (and quite incomprehensible, I admit) urges you may get to grind or polish the stuff, too, because the dust, whether you breathe it in or absorb it through your skin, can kill you.
On a more cheerful note, I’ve discovered that my favorite medieval mystic, Hildegarde of Bingen, used gemstones for healing, in addition to her other talents, and her amethyst water is still popular in some quarters–I plan to whip up a batch (rather strenuous phrasing for such a gentle process) when the raw stone I ordered arrives. Apparently, the potion is great for the skin, and it’s made by suspending the stone over boiling water (I plan to use a steamer) and then allowing the condensation to drop into the water as it cools. After that, you can bottle the stuff and splash it on your face after cleansing. Since I make my own bubble bath these days, I’ve begun to add stones to that as well–in this case, moss agate.
Interesting information on various stones can be found at Let’s Talk Stones on Youtube, or on the corresponding webpage at Crystalicious.com.
It’s a writing day, and that’s good. I’m loving the story and the characters. Because this is the first book in a new series, I’m moving a little more slowly than usual, which sometimes causes me anxiety, but between prayer and the energy of stones, I’m dealing. Every story has an individual pace, experience reminds me, and that pace must be respected.
And now for the miscellaneous, end-of-the-week ramblings. 🙂
This week’s book/giftcard winners will be announced later today.
I’m planning on a working weekend, although I will need to make time for my art as well, because that too is part of my process. I’ve got some artist trading card swaps to wrap up for Art42, and I need to restring my prayer/meditation beads–at the moment, they’re contained in a bag, and while they’re still as powerful and as charged as ever, I miss being able to wear them. I’m adding in a few new gemstones, as I’ve mentioned–rutilated quartz (quartz shot through with copper) (good for multi-taskers) being the main one.
We have a new kitty on the Triple L–adopted, of course–and making her home with Jenni. She’s a fluffy little sweetie, and we’re glad she’s joined the family. She had her required vet exam this morning, at Dr. Steve Bauer’s office, and came away with a clean bill of health. She stayed calm, too. Jenni brought her by this morning so I could meet her, and I fell in love with our little Dorie. 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. Tis the season to be jolly–and to be royally stressed out, so be sure to take good care of yourself–read a good book, sip some tea, indulge in a luxurious bubble bath–whatever does it for you.
