Dog Drama

Yesterday, with the help of my son-in-law, Jeremy, I took my dogs to the vet.

Mowgli had some skin problems and both he and Tule needed their nails trimmed.

We pulled up in front of the clinic and we were juggling the dogs, both of whom were excited.  They love going somewhere—anywhere—and Mowgli nearly tipped me over, winding his leash around my legs.

When Jeremy reached out to help, Tule, aka Mr. Independent, slipped out of his collar and ran off—straight into San Diego traffic!

Jeremy immediately ran after him, waving his arms as he moved between cars, but Tule was doing his zoomie thing.

I was terrified, of course.  I prayed.

Two people from inside the veterinary office were also in pursuit, and thank God, literally, the traffic stopped.

Tule was huddled underneath a car, not within easy reach, but under the console area.  One of the vehicle’s occupants got out, dropped down onto the asphalt, scooped Tule up and then handed him over to Jeremy.

I’m still not over the shock.

Thank you, God.

Thank you, Jeremy

Thank you, kind strangers.
