Weight Watchers Report: UP .4

Wednesday, Apr 30

Yes, this week I am up nearly half a pound–I suspect water retention, since my rings were tighter this morning.  In any case, I am not concerned–though I might be if a pattern forms.  🙂
We are having the MOST beautiful weather here in Spokane–they’re actually predicting 83 degrees for Friday.  Yeehaw, I can get behind that.  The tulips are in full bloom now, and the colors are so lovely, it breaks my heart to look at them.
On the last blog I mentioned that I was listening to a novel, THE FIRST FIFTEEN LIVES OF…but I ended up switching to a memoir called (I think), LISTEN TO THE SQUAWKING CHICKEN–and it’s GREAT.  The author is Chinese-American, and the book is an account of her relationship with her Chinese mother.  There is lots of humor, as you might guess from the title, but some serious stuff, too.  I think those of us who live in the Western Hemisphere forget how much harder life is in other parts of the world.  I don’t know about you, but I can always use a reminder to be grateful.  It’s so easy to *itch and moan, to “awfulize”, as the late Zig Ziglar used to say, when the fact is that most of us, no matter where we are on the economic scale, have a roof over our heads, enough of the basics–and too much of certain things.  (Food, in my case.)  Yes, I know we have some serious issues to deal with here in the US and Canada, but–and this is a big but–the poverty endured in other countries is almost beyond the scope of imagination, even for our poor.
I will probably to back to the novel eventually, but I was tired and the read was just too downbeat for evening fare.
Norma Stanforth, a lot of us are praying for you.  Please don’t lose hope.
We have a nice community going for us here, methinks.  I am always touched by the care and concern so many of you show for other citizens of our online town.  (Shall we name it Parable?)
Speaking of Parable, the new book, THE MARRIAGE PACT, the first story in the brand-new BRIDES OF BLISS COUNTY series, will be available on the last Tuesday of May.  (How can it be May already?  This still feels a new year to me, and it’s nearly half over!)
That’s my news for today, gang.
Keep being yourselves.  You’re wonderful.
